How to Purchase Original Art
Lucas Smith Art is available for purchase through several venues: my website, my studio (Studio 12) at Ashton Gallery in San Diego, North Coastal Art Gallery in Carlsbad, The San Diego Watercolor Society in Liberty Station, and online at Saatchi Art. Each year, I create new series and hold a Solo Exhibition, and I regularly submit my pieces to various galleries throughout Southern California.
I enjoy live painting at events and attending opening receptions each month at Ashton Art Gallery, where I participate in regional exhibitions and keep my studio open for clients to visit and see my current projects. I also attend First Friday opening receptions at the SDWS from 5pm-8pm. My studio hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm, and Fridays from 10:30am-1:30pm on class days. As my work is selling quickly and I am busy with multiple commissions, if you see something you like, don't hesitate to purchase it.
Commissioning Custom Art
I am open to discussing custom commissions. A 50% down payment is required, with the remaining 50% due upon completion. I will send work-in-progress photos throughout the process. Customers are allowed up to two revisions, depending on the requests. Commissions typically take 4-6 weeks and include shipping and handling fees. Currently, I ship within the U.S., Canada, and some international countries. Please contact me for more information.
Requesting Reproductions
Currently, I am focused on producing and selling original, one-of-a-kind pieces. If I decide to offer reproductions in the future, I will announce it to my email subscribers first, so be sure to sign up for my emails.
Framing Your Art
If you purchase art on deep-wrap stretched canvas, no additional framing is necessary, though a floater frame can provide a modern touch. For art on unstretched canvas, you can choose to have it framed flat, mounted on a deep cradled wood panel, or re-stretched onto 1.5” deep bars. Art on cradled wood panel does not require additional framing if the sides are protected and not painted over.
Materials Used
I work on both raw canvas and wood panels to explore new materials. I use level 3 professional canvases, typically already stretched, and add black gesso for extra texture before beginning my work. My wood panels are custom-made by my framer and come in various sizes and shapes.
Ready-to-Hang Art
Art on stretched canvas or wood panels will arrive ready to hang. If your art is larger and shipped rolled, you will need to have it stretched by a local framer.
Shipping Details
I use standard shipping guidelines through FedEx, UPS, and USPS, with a signature required at pickup. Tracking information will be provided via text or email.
